Newton Cultural Alliance receives state grant
The Newton Cultural Alliance, a local not-for-profit arts and cultural organization, received $18,750 grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council on Thursday, October 4, to be used toward the creation of a regional cultural center in Newton.
The state funds will be added to $31,250 in private donations pledged last spring.
With 201 applicants vying for the grant, the NCA was one of 62 recipients divvying up the $16.7 million pool.
Rep. Kay Khan, along with community leaders and several Newton-based cultural organizations, were involved in moving this project forward.
