About the New Art Center
The New Art Center is a vibrant community art center, dedicated to supporting artistic creation and education through art classes, exhibitions and public programs. Each year, over 2,500 students of all ages and levels attend our 85 classes/week and summer programs, drawn by the New Art Center's superb faculty and welcoming community of engaged students. Students, gallery visitors, artists, curators, teachers, school groups, and community members with general interests in the visual arts will all find programs of interest here.
Our award-winning exhibitions offer related educational programs and hands-on activities in our 2,000 sq. ft. gallery. For example, at our current Puppetry exhibition, visitors can make and perform with puppets, and we have developed special, puppet-focused events and classes.
The New Art Center's public programs include our unique "Connections" program, which helps community groups develop visual literacy skills through gallery workshops tailored to the group's interests; evening lectures, and Nights Out @ New Art, occasional events that combine art with a fun night out. We also offer children's art birthday parties and rent our spaces for events.
The New Art Center's programs offer many important opportunities for the community to come together to engage in thinking about and making art.
